Study
Abroad Puerto Rico
One of the larger islands that
lies between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, Puerto
Rico has attractions as diverse as tropical rain forest,
Old San Juan, surfing at Rincón, and the Casals Festival
in late June.
There are 16 historic blocks that comprise this World Heritage
site. Known as "El Viejo," Old San Juan embodies the spiritual
heart of the island's nearly 4 million inhabitants. With
centuries-old architecture, it symbolizes Puerto Rico's
fight for identity in the face of 400 years of the occupation
from the largest European and world Empire of the time (Spain).
