Student
Exchange Program Chile
The general secondary education course lasts for four years. Students
choose to specialize either in humanistic-scientific general education
or technical-professional education. The humanistic-scientific branch,
offered in liceos, is a preparation for higher education. It offers
a two-year common course and two years of specialization in Literary,
Historical and Social Sciences or Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
Technical-professional education is divided into five branches:
industrial, technical, agricultural, commercial and maritime. After
two common years of general studies, students specialize in one
of these branches. Students who successfully complete their secondary
education are awarded the Licencia de Educación Media or the title
of Técnico de Nivel Medio.
