Secondary education is offered in colleges, pedagogical institutes, and higher technical institutes. It is divided into the basic cycle, which is common to all pupils and lasts for three years, the diversified cycle includes short one- to two-year studies and the Bachillerato which lasts for three years. Bachillerato courses offer specializations in the Humanities, Science, Educational Sciences, Commerce and Administration.Two-year post-Bachillerato specialized courses are also offered by technical and technological institutes.
