Student
Exchange Program Denmark
Upon
completion of the 9th or 10th form of the Folkeskole pupils may go on to
one of the following levels: 1) General upper secondary courses leading
to "Studentereksamen" or "Højere Forberedelseseksamen"(HF). The 3-year Gymnasium
programme is the traditional general upper secondary programme. The aim
of these courses is to provide a general education and to qualify students
for admission to higher education. The individual programmes comprise compulsory
and optional subjects. It is therefore possible, to some extent, to compose
programmes individually. Education in Denmark is largely the
responsibility of the Ministry of Education. It shares control of the Gymnasium
and Højere Forberedelseseksamen (HF) with the country councils and school
or course boards. It is responsible for setting up the framework for curricula
at primary and secondary education level. However, the contents of the courses
are established by the schools (with their boards) and finalized by the
teachers with their pupils.
